Pricing Carbon ???? Why ??

Pricing Carbon.
Could someone please enlighten me as to what is going on in our Government. A Carbon Price (tax) which does not guarantee any reduction in pollution is as fake as a nine bob note. Why, pray tell me, put a price on carbon at all if it does nothing to reduce pollution? And please would someone tell me when the people of Australia gave permission to our Government to pay their money to someone overseas to buy Carbon Credits if we don’t reduce our pollution.? When was this decision published for the edification of the people? If this trend continues along its present path, soon there will be no need of Governments, those with vested interests will be in control of everything.
Australia produces about 2% of the worlds pollution, Is that true? If it is true I would expect the rest of the world to pay for the other 98% of polluting that’s being done. It is not practical for that to happen and it won’t.
This carbon pricing scheme will also increase the inflation rate and reduce the purchasing power of our dollar. I would suggest that serious consideration be given before introducing any Carbon related costs to the people. This policy, as I understand it, is absolutely ludicrous and should be stopped dead in it’s tracks, right now.
It seems like sheer stupidity to raise every cost there is in Australia merely to satisfy what I believe is a failed theory. This smells of corruption throughout our Government, not solely the elected members, but the permanent advisers, so-called experts and the army of minders who inhabit dark and invisible places among the political scenery.
Who is responsible for what in our Government? I know the elected members who made such great promises prior to the election last year will not accept any responsibility for anything; I know the faceless ones in the back rooms won’t accept responsibility for anything, I know the permanent members of the Government Departments won’t accept responsibility for anything; and I know the so-called environmental scientists will simply say that the circumstances have changed, so they won’t accept any responsibility.
To all those in Government I say this, Corruption starts at the top and works it’s way down through the root system until everything is destroyed. Get off your high horses and get practical or lose this country to some wealthy mob from somewhere over the seas.
