Politics > Economics > People.
The local, State and Federal political scene is still fraught with corrupt practices in my opinion. Sadly, many of my friends feel as I do. Not the elected representative, per se, but the back room power brokers and the political advisors who take salaries from the taxpayer and big business interests as well. Why else would big business ‘donate’ so much money to Political parties? Anyone in business knows that they expect a return for monies ‘invested’ in Political Party affairs.
Politicians who are elected are under the thumb of the Party Machine. They sign primary allegiance to the Party before they can even nominate for an election. Then, unless they are among the favoured few in Cabinet or Caucus, they simply vote as instructed by the Party machine. Such is life on the political scene. Even science is altered to support the desired conclusions of those with vested interests
The so-called scientific studies of Climate Change are very suspect as to the truth of their published findings. In reality, I think much of the information that has been put forward to support Carbon Taxes, and such like, causing increases in cost-of-living expenses, is incorrect and misleading. Such bumff is purely propaganda to make money for those who already have more than they can spend productively. Nothing much has changed over many years of so-called democratic Government in our country, the rich are still getting richer and the poor are growing in numbers, year by year. The inequality of incomes and living standards is a direct result of corruption being part of the scene in every level of Government, and in every Government Agency.
I doubt we, the ordinary people, will ever be given a true ‘Fair Go’ as they say in Aussie, simply because the corruption is not recognised or acknowledged by those in power. Such is life. Very disappointing and somewhat depressing for the majority of the population.
Economics, as it operates today, is a broad based way of making the rich richer and keeping the poor under informed, underpaid and under the control of those same wealthy few who control the political scene. They say that money is power, and it is. Those with money buy what they want, whether it’s a new car, new house, new private jet aircraft or new law to let them pay less tax or new laws to let them avoid accepting any responsibility for the damage they cause to the environment their businesses operate in, or the people they expose to un-necessary risks as they go about their daily lives.
I wonder if the international business machinery is aimed at world control by economics. As things are at present that could well be the truth. Big business makes its money from little people, ordinary people who just want to pay their bills, raise their families and enjoy life as it comes. To get the whole world in its present predicament must have taken a concerted effort over many years. Whole countries bankrupt??? Even the mighty United States of America are feeling the pinch with finances. I cannot imagine 14 or 15 trillion dollars being owed by a country. To whom do they owe that much and why? Surely the tax system would generate enough income to pay the costs of running the country, er, wouldn’t it?
Now here we are in Australia, rapidly becoming victims of the economic developments in a ‘global’ economy over which we have no control. Sadly, preceding Govts have sold off all commercially viable businesses and we are now at the mercy of the same forces which have virtually bankrupt Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Portugal and so on. Are these same forces influencing the troubles in North Africa ? I don’t know, but I wonder. Where will our world finish up. We do have to contend with the disruptions Mother Nature throws our way on a regular basis, but the major problems we face daily are not of natures making; we make them for ourselves by being convinced that more is better. That means more consumption of resources, more rubbish to be disposed of, more profit for the big end of town, and more problems down the track for the human race in general.
I shall leave you with the following, written by someone far wiser than me:-
Only after the last tree has been cut down,
Only after the last river has been poisoned,
Only after the last fish has been caught,
Only after the last crop has failed,
Only then will we realise that money cannot be eaten.
We are the people; can we be given the freedom from want to continue to be –the People.
