Election 2010 - Australia
July 28th 2010 01:47
Three weeks left to listen to the budding politicians, and the real ones, extend to us voters what they consider is the right bait to persuade us to vote for them. I think this election is a ‘Claytons ‘ election, you know, the election you have when you are not having an election.
The usual dirty mud sling tricks coming from ‘informed sources’, the promises made to fix problems which have never ever been fixed, (and never will be fixed) if we are elected to Government. So it goes on and on. Fortunately we shall only suffer political campaigning for five weeks, and that is four weeks too long.
For the House of representatives.
Pick from your electorates list of candidates the person you like least, remove him/her.
Pick the person you like best remove him/her
Put the remaining names in a hat and draw out one name at a time. Mark your preference order on the ballot paper according to the order in which the names come from the hat.
Not very scientific at all but, since this is a ‘Clayton’s Election’, does it matter? The permanent members of the public service run our country, they always have. Our elected representatives pass the laws and regulations etc, but those permanent public servants interpret them and act on them.
Personally, I’ll probably vote for labour> The coalition had 11 years and succeeded in selling everything owned by the people, I’ll give labour another go. They won’t sell much owned by the people cause there isn’t much left.
