Destruction of Oz
Now we have it all laid for us to see, Carbon Tax. I have listened to recorded speeches, read articles and tried my level best to see how this tax is going to have an effect on Pollution. I can’t see anywhere how this tax is going to do anything except decrease the purchasing power of our income, increase costs unnecessarily, and cause friction amongst our community.
Nowhere is there any real statement about research into alternative ‘green’ energy sources, just a passing mention about alternative energy. Maybe I’m looking at it from the wrong perspective, i am a consumer and that is how I look at it. On the other hand, if I was a supplier of energy in any form I would be happily rubbing my hands together. All that extra profit coming my way, courtesy of a Government imposed Tax.
If I am a retailer of electricity I am home on the pigs back, Costs went up before the retailers were sold to private enterprise for about half their value, now they will go up further without the retailer having to do a darn thing. Perhaps the retailers would be expected to absorb some of the increases, but that won’t happen, their profits will be sent off overseas to some foreign country and we, poor suckers will lose out. I wonder who bribed who to get that outcome.
If I am a food retailer and my purchases cost me more to transport, prepare for sale or whatever, I will simply put the price up to keep my profits as high as I can. That is the way it is.
However, if I am a producer, and my costs go up because of this tax, where will I be? Up the creek without a paddle, I would think. The retailers will simply buy at the lowest price and that, dear Prime Minister, will be from overseas.
We are one of the most efficient producers of food in the world, Mz Gillard, who bribed who to put this impost on our country?
I know the climate is changing, I know that human activity is partly to blame, I also know that this TAX has nothing to do with reducing pollution, it is a political stunt to make the rich richer, and nothing more.
If any Government in the world was seriously trying to do something constructive about the changing climate, their approach would have to have a much broader scope than merely taxing of carbon dioxide emissions. How about replanting forests, inventing a method of sowing pastures using traditional grasses from that area, controlling the water so that there is enough for our environment to be healthy.
There’s three avenues for your esteemed Government faceless Backroom manipulators to consider. And perhaps, Mz Gillard, those same people won’t make a cent out of it. Of course, Pigs might fly, too.
I’m sure you will forgive my allusions to corruption within Government circles. It exists in every Government in the world, ours is no different. Of course, knowing it is happening, and proving it, are two entirely different matters.
