Parliament Sits -our 43 rd.

September 30th 2010 09:37
The 43 rd Parliament Sits
Today was the day- or was it? From the little I have heard not a lot was actually done today. The usual welcoming to all members of the House, the Speaker situation sorted out, a very good speech by our Governor General, a short sharp row between Take-Away-Tony and Simon Crean and a promise by Tony to make life as miserable as he possibly can for everyone with his very aggressive approach to anything the Govt may wish to do.
I can’t write much tonight, mostly because there is really not a lot to write about

Reform- or- Destroy

September 27th 2010 02:01
Reform or Destroy
What kind of idiot politician refuses to allow members of his Party to participate in a Government Committee? Only the Abbot kind.
Is this form of dictatorial behaviour allowed under the constitution

Honest Open Government ??

Honest Open Government
Until Take-away-Tony welshed on his personally signed agreement regarding the reforms of Parliament, we had a chance of actually having a Government FOR the people of this Country of ours. OURS, Mr Abbot, not yours, not the Party’s Govt, but the people’s Government.
WE own it, we pay the salaries, and we have earned the right to demand that every one of our elected representatives has a voice in the House itself. We also have the right to demand that the legislation pertaining to every little inconsequential matter be open to Public scrutiny, the costs, the estimated effects and the objective of that piece of legislation

Broken Agreements

September 23rd 2010 04:21

Tony Abbot, what have you done now. An agreement is an agreement dear boy, and you are welshing on a very important one. You agreed to parliamentary Reform as asked for by the three independents, you even signed that agreement.
What will happen now? Will Bob Katter simply say that all things are now open and the agreement whereby he, Bob Katter, sided with the Coalition, is also open. Will he go side with Labour? I most certainly would, just to make it that much harder for Take-Away-Tony to operate with any degree of effective opposition. A ‘Welsher’ is not a popular person in Aussie

The Heiner Affair

September 9th 2010 00:37
Anyone interested in politics should go to this site and check it out. It is about the cover up of what appears to be criminal acts by the Qld Govt about 20 years ago. Some of those who knowingly took part in shredding evidence at the time are still in politics.

A Minority Government

A Minority Government
Now we in Australia can expect some confusion from the almighty who are entrenched in the political scene. No longer can the faceless back room boys make the decisions for all elected members of their Political Party. Open Government can only be good for this country of ours.
I am pleased that Julia Gillard is confirmed as our first female Prime Minister, even if only by a hairs breadth. I voted independent, but Julia is perhaps the better of the two options available to choose from

The Voice of the People

The Voice of the People
The selection of a Government to look after Australia for the next three years is close to being decided. It would appear that the voice of the people through their elected representatives will be more powerful than the faceless power brokers who hide behind anonymity.

And the Band Plays ON

September 2nd 2010 02:47
And the Band Plays On.
Here we are, two weeks, almost, after an election and still no Government. The wheeling and dealing is evident in every news report, every TV news broadcast, and every political article posted on the internet.
The people of Australia have indicated that they do NOT want the current party system of Govt to go on forever. I am a lone voice, crying in the political wilderness, but, CAN WE PLEASE HAVE PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION
