Education - Power - Politics

We are frequently told that our education system has been developed by experts to give us the best possible knowledge that is available. Sadly for us, that is not true. Our system teaches just enough to get the ‘students’ a pass at exam time. Whether what they have learned is of any use to them is of no concern to the educators, teachers and the current Govt. Standards have been lowered to achieve a higher pass rate at exam time. Mediocrity- en -masse seems to be the objective of the curriculum designers.
It seems that the aim of Public Education is to breed and train a standardised citizen, to put down dissent and originality, to create a manageable population which can be readily manipulated to believe whatever the power brokers in Government circles tell them to believe. In short the power brokers think of themselves as the only ones with brains and the general population are merely sheep, to be pushed thither and yon as deemed necessary
